Ginger insecurities
October 26, 2001-10:40 p.m.

Chia's feelin The current mood of Chia at www.imood.com

I had a cup of ginger lemon tea a little while ago with a ton of honey while I let Whiskers out.

She was running around the kitchen like a maniac, bouncing on the walls, climbing on the table, jumping on me... I swear, she think's I'm some sort of jungle gym.

My mom was asking me what I wanted to do for my 16th birthday, like if I wanted to have a party or anything. I've never been one for having parties, I'm not really good at that sort of thing, never have been. I'm a bit socially inept. I guess that's what comes of being a pariah for 4 years.

I asked my mom why she seems so over protective of me, I mean, I'm practically 16, and it seems sometimes it seems like she stil thinks I'm 12 or something. And I swear, she's paranoid. I can't go to a party I was invited to because she's afraid that I have some chance of getting anthrax or something. Why doesn't she just go put me in a friggin bubble? I don't think I have a very good chance of getting it. I'm neither important enough or connected to anyone important enough to even have a chance of getting it. *shakes head and sighs* Parents...

There are so many more horrible things that could happen to me just going to school, or walking home. Yet that's not such a big deal. But going to a party somehow is. People should make sense when they're paranoid!

But then, there's really nothing I can do, other than try to brainwash her, which I'm not sure how to go about doing yet, or talking her into it, which as I've learned from experience, is not likely to happen. I mean, she doesn't even want me to go to the mall alone, she's so paranoid, but somehow, it's ok if I'm with a friend. I mean, if she's afraid of anthrax at the mall, and I was there with a friend, it wouldn't make a differnce. If she's afraid of kidnappers, which I don't think she is, because I've been allowed to go to the mall alone, I can pretty much take care of myself. I have a loud voice when I want to have one, and I'm pretty sure I could alert people if I had to, or that I could whoop some ass to stay safe. And you'd think she'd know that. Why don't parents ever understand when their kids are tough enough to take care of themselves like that?
